Performance experience is vital to the singer at any point in their development. After all singing is in fact a “performing art”. It is a wonderful and essential part of the joy of our work as singers to prepare material, technique, expression, and emotional and physical strength and stamina for a performance event. There is always a heightened level of growth and a raising of the bar of accomplishment in the preparation and execution of any performance. It allows students to understand more fully what is possible for them to achieve and what it takes to do so, enhancing strength and confidence. Not to mention the extraordinary fun that we have in the rehearsing and performing with musicians, each other, and then performing in a safe environment with our friends, families and fellow singers! Chanson Voice Studios produces one professional concert a year for its students, taking advantage of the many extraordinary singing spaces (old stone churches, theaters, concert halls, museums, outdoor gardens and stages and nightclubs) and world class musicians available in the Twin Cities. Concerts are designed with themes or genres, giving the student the opportunity to explore the diversity of music from many eras and styles, enhancing and broadening the singer’s technique, style, knowledge and appreciation of many different musical and singing forms. For each concert, students write their own program notes for the concert programs, having researched their songs and their composers for a deeper understanding of their pieces. Chanson Voice Studio Concerts are professionally produced using the best musical and technical talent available in the Twin Cities. They are audio and video taped and CD’s and DVD’s are made available for students and their family and friends for posterity and further learning for students.
